Cory Elasik Cory Elasik enters his fourthyear as an assistant coach for the Vikings. Elasik serves as the hitting and third base coach, the recruiting coordinator, and works with the outfielders and catchers. In his first season as the Vikings’ hitting coach, the program batted .319 as a team, collected 419 runs while driving in 373 RBIs, and belted 58 home runs in 56 games played. Eight Viking hitters earned All-Conference honors, while two, Omar Villaman and Alec Dowell, were selected to First and Second All-State teams. Villaman was also selected as an Honorable Mention NJCAA All-American.

In Elasik’s second season, the Vikings hit .293 as a team with 377 runs scored and 320 RBIs. The Vikings finished the season with 56 home runs in 55 games played. Six Viking hitters were named All-Conference selections, including the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the year, Justin Smith. Smith was also named as an FCSAA 1st Team All-State outfielder and was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 2017 MLB Draft.

During the 2018 Season, the Viking offense scored 333 runs, while driving in 288 RBI’s. The Vikings were fourth in the FCSAA in team homeruns with 57. Three Viking hitters were named to the Mid-Florida All-Conference team: Joey Bellini (1st), Kerry Carpenter (1st), and Nick Romano (2nd). Both Carpenter and Bellini were named to the FCSAA All-State Teams.

Elasik previously served one year as the head baseball coach at Trenton High School. During his season with the Tigers, Elasik’s team accumulated a 17-7 record and set school records for strikeouts per game (18) and season ERA (1.87). Two of his players signed on to play at the collegiate level. Prior to that, Elasik worked for the Gatorball Baseball Academy in Gainesville, where he served as the director of player development, recruiting coordinator and head catching instructor, assisting in the development of dozens of high school athletes who received NCAA baseball scholarships.

Elasik was an All-State catcher at Baker County High School and an All-Conference catcher for Santa Fe College. He continued his playing career at Lynn University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in International Relations. He played for two years under national championship coach Rudy Garbalosa and was a member of the team that finished two wins short of a World Series bid in 2012. He was selected to the Second Team, All-Sunshine State Conference, as a designated hitter in 2013.
